Steam Direct
Definition
Steam Direct is the process Valve uses to let developers publish on Steam. It charges a $100 app fee per product, requires identity, bank and tax verification, and applies a waiting period and a store review before a game can be released.

What Steam Direct means
The fee is not refundable, but it can be recouped in the payment made after the product reaches $1,000 in adjusted gross revenue from the Steam store and in-app purchases.[1]
Verification takes 15 to 30 days. A store page must be public as coming soon for at least two weeks before release, and review takes 1 to 5 days.[1]
Why it matters
Steam Direct fixes the earliest realistic release date and the cash you must commit up front. Plan the build around the waiting periods rather than treating them as an afterthought.[1]
